Lamb God Lutheran - Ministries

MEMBER MINISTRIES
Member Ministries is an exciting group of ministry teams that are here to provide activities, spiritual growth and fellowship. Each Ministry is open to Lamb of God members and friends. These are excellent ways to introduce your friends and neighbors to our exciting church! If they are not sure they want to attend a service, let them get to know some people by inviting them to join you in our golf tournament, or perhaps celebrate the holidays at the Progressive Dinner. Inviting friend to the Annual Auction is also a good introduction, as are the Women's Bible Study (SIP ("Sisters in Prayer") and the Men's Breakfast. There are so many things to choose from, we hope that these offerings interest each of you. Below is a listing of the different areas and their teams, and what areas are included. Each team meets once a month (on the second Tuesday of each month at 7pm) and works on their plans for the next month or two. If you have an interest in working on any of these Ministry Teams, please contact the team leader listed, or Mary Howell, who represents Member Ministries on Council. If you aren't interested in serving, we hope you'll join us at some of the events!

ORGANIZATIONS & FELLOWSHIP
This team has a fun job – they're the event planners! Kaye Whitehead leads this team, whose job is to organize events year-round that encourage adult fellowship. Some of the events that have been popular over the years include the Hobo Party, Cajun Fest, Christmas Progressive Dinner and the Annual Church Picnic. And if there's a potluck in charge, chances are this group is in charge. They are the ones “in-the-know” when it comes to preparing for a function!

SAGE
As a sub-group of Organizations & Fellowship, our SAGE (Seniors Are God's Emissaries) Group caters to the Senior Citizens (age 50+) of our church. Activities include weekday (first Wednesday of each month) meetings that include potlucks and Bible studies, and field trips. This group has taken a bus to all kinds of places – from the Museum of Natural Science to see the bluebonnets in the Spring.

FAMILY LIFE MINISTRIES
If you thought Organizations and Fellowship had a fun job, this group handles similar events, but caters more toward our families and those with young children. The most visible areas are organizing the Fall Festival and the Easter Celebration, including the balloon release and managing the Nursery each week. The Fall Festival is coming up soon, and you won't want to miss it! There are games, food, silent auction baskets and lots of fun for everyone who comes! This team is also responsible for the wonderful goodies handed out to all moms on Mother's Day and dads on Father's Day! They hope you enjoy their efforts, and are always looking for new team members with fresh ideas.

MEN'S MINISTRIES
Do fresh scrambled eggs, sizzling sausage, hot pancakes and steaming coffee sound good? If so, you should join the dedicated cooks the second Saturday of each month for the monthly Men's Breakfast. Sorry ladies, but these guys want their time alone! They cook, eat, fellowship, and spend some time in prayer and Bible study. They have had topical discussions, and guest speakers. They also work on minor repairs around the campus and out in the community if needed.  If interested, contact Bill Hagebusch (billhagebusch@ev1.net).

WOMEN'S MINISTRIES
This group is incredibly active and includes many different facets. See Karen Brown for current details (brown.family@earthlink.net).

ANNUAL NOVEMBER AUCTION
The Auction Team, headed by Mary Howell (maryhowell@kingwood.net) plans the most-anticipated event of the year - the famous Annual Auction and Chili Cook Off (scheduled this year in November!). This is a fun time, for a good cause, planned by great gals. The proceeds go to various needs, including missions, individual missionaries and special projects around the campus. If you've never attended, make plans to do so – and bring a friend! Whether you're attending, entering as a chilicooking team, donating goods to the auction, or coming to bid, don't miss it! It's gotten so big and exciting, that this year it may have to be held in the CLC instead of the Fellowship Hall!

BIBLE STUDY...CALLING ALL WOMEN!
For those who are unable to attend a Bible Study during the day, an evening group gets together on Wednesday evenings from 6-7:30. This group meets in the kitchen of the CLC and Phyllis Howell (281-441-3534) is leading this group.

STEPHENS MINISTRY
Frequently friends will ask, “I know you're involved in Stephen Ministry, can you tell me exactly what a Stephen Minister is?”  I like to explain that Stephen Ministers are “After People.”

Stephen Ministers are there after:
u you've washed and returned the last casserole dish
u the divorce papers have been served and the bottom falls out of your life
u the last child honks the horn, waves, and drives away-and the house seems empty
u you arrive home following the funeral service and the emotions come crashing in on you
u the relationship has ended but the wounds are still bleeding and painful
u the doctors have said, “There's nothing more we ca do”
u the door has slammed shut-for the very last time
u the phone call you'd always hoped you'd never get
u you realize the hands on the watch from your retirement party move more slowly
u the gavel goes down, the handcuffs go on, and your loved one is led away
u the baby has arrived, putting more demands on you than you ever dreamed
u you find the pink slip inserted in what is now your final paycheck
u your family/friends have heard your story, and you still need someone to listen

Stephen Ministers are the “After People.”  We are ready to come alongside you-and provide comfort and support for as long “after” as we are needed.

Stephen Ministry Mission:
"A Christian lay caring ministry, guided by the Holy Spirit, to reflect the love of Jesus Christ to others.
