Jesus was convicted by the people who demanded his crucifixion. Jesus was whipped, crowned with a strand of thorns and forced to carry his own cross to the hill of Calvary. There he was nailed to the cross and crucified as his own mother watched. Jesus cried out from the cross “It is finished…” and died. What was finished? The atonement of humanity was finished. We stole from the tree of life through the actions of Adam and Eve. Jesus lived the only life without sin and was sacrificed and died for us. His life was an exchange for ours. We are saved by his grace and mercy and his willingness to die freely for you and me.
